Program Support Specialist

Stillman Academy is hiring compassionate, curious educators who want to change the lives of students who struggle with reading and writing — and who want to help expand structured literacy access into the Spanish-speaking community.

We specialize in structured literacy instruction for students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, and other language-based learning differences. Our approach blends direct, systematic instruction with hands-on learning, field trips, and community-based exploration. This role also supports our Founder, William Patterson, in his work as an IDA Northern California board member growing Spanish-language Experience Dyslexia workshops across the Bay Area.

What You'll Do

Administrative Support  — 40%

• Support tutors in lesson preparation, including using AI tools to generate individualized reading passages tailored to each student

• Prepare tutoring session materials, and track student progress and assessments

• Maintain student and staff calendars

• Maintain office supply inventory and the office library of books for our students

Training & Tutoring  — 40%

• Receive paid incentives and stipends for training toward certification in the Slingerland Approach, SRSD, LIPS, and Esperanza

• Receive ongoing coaching, mentorship, and progress monitoring

• Provide direct 1:1 tutoring in reading, writing, and spelling

Spanish Language Outreach  — 20%

• Support IDA NorCal Board Member William Patterson in Spanish-language outreach for the Experience Dyslexia workshop series

• Coordinate with interns, university placement programs, and host organizations running Spanish-language Experience Dyslexia workshops and speaker panels across the Bay Area, tracking contacts, panelist recruitment, and event logistics

Qualifications

• Holds a college degree, or is currently enrolled in college; passionate about helping children learn to read and write

• Reliable, organized, eager to learn, and comfortable using AI tools to support lesson prep

• Willing to earn Slingerland and Esperanza certifications (required for advancement into a full-time tutoring role), as well as SRSD and LIPS (all paid for by Stillman Academy)

• Spanish fluency required

• Enjoys working 1:1 with students and adjusting lessons to their interests; comfortable coordinating with external partners (interns, universities, nonprofits)

• Personal vehicle preferred

Schedule & Hours

• Core hours: 3 days/week required, Wednesday–Friday, 6–8 hours/day, with up to 5 days/week possible

• Student sessions available in morning, afternoon, and evening; planning, training, and outreach coordination in midday hours

• Hourly pay: $20–$40, depending on experience and certifications already possessed
